Our Approach

Our Approach

Etgar Israel was created with multi-generational synagogue trips in mind. Too often, the leaders of such an Israel trip have trouble connecting to each and every person. The younger, more active participants may feel as though they’re being slowed down - perhaps they simply feel bored - while the older, possibly slower participants may feel as though there’s too much physical activity required, and/or not enough time for discussions. This doesn’t happen all the time, and not at every stop along the way, but it is a serious concern of many trip leaders. That led us to the question, which we set out to answer: How can we have a multi-generational Israel trip where each and every participant is traveling the way they want? How can we keep the younger travelers engaged and learning, while still offering traditional opportunities for those that are more comfortable with a relaxed pace? The answer is Etgar Israel. Finally, a two-track trip where everyone has plenty of “together time” while still allowing for each “track” to move at their own pace. We hope you enjoy taking this trip as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it!

Our Story

Our Story

IIt all started with Competitours - Europe’s first (and only) Amazing-Race-Style trip. For over 10 years, Competitours, founded by Steve Belkin, has been taking travelers to Europe on 10-day, challenge-filled mystery adventures. As the 10 teams, of two people each, zig-zag the continent, the concept was to have them connect with the people and cultures of Western Europe, rather than simply taking selfies in front of the Eiffel Tower or Colosseum. After working with Belkin on a few (unrelated) projects, our own founder, Ari Charlestein, had an idea to expand this travel concept beyond the confines of Western Europe! And so, Etgar Travel was born; but Etgar Corporate Solutions is just one of the products we offer. We also run 7-10 day, consumer-focused, competition-style trips to Israel, and the United States.
